In a programme packed with sensational concerts and special guests, there’s plenty to look forward to this season.
Our Chief Conductor Domingo Hindoyan unites with the legendary Daniel Barenboim as he performs in Liverpool for the first time in almost fifty years. In March, international opera star Sir Bryn Terfel performs Puccini’s sparkling opera, Gianni Schicchi, alongside up-and-coming stars from the European Opera Centre.
This season we’re delighted to announce trumpeter Pacho Flores as our Artist in Residence, following dazzling concerts alongside Domingo in past seasons, and the wonderful Isata Kanneh-Mason returns as our Young Artist in Residence for a second year. Saxophonist Jess Gillam and the Orchestra perform Glazunov’s concerto and the famous Labèque sisters feature in a series of three remarkable concerts, including a UK premiere by Nico Muhly. We’ll also welcome acclaimed pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii back to Liverpool to perform works including Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto and Moonlight Sonata.
Of course, our festive favourites return, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir uniting with the Orchestra for our Spirit of Christmas concerts and Handel’s Messiah.
"I already knew that live music is at the very heart of Liverpool, but now in my second season as Chief Conductor, it has been wonderful to spend time getting to know this vibrant, friendly city. I truly feel like I have been welcomed into a new family."
