Artists in Residence

Artist in Residence
Benjamin Appl, baritone

He’s been no stranger to Liverpool Philharmonic over the years, stunning audiences with ‘unbearably moving’ (The Times) performances, so we’re delighted to announce Benjamin Appl as our Artist in Residence for the 2024/25 season.

Having sung in our annual performance of Messiah back in 2023, this season Benjamin will step onto the podium to conduct Handel’s epic masterpiece (11 January). He’ll also take our Chamber series by storm – first, he’ll be performing Widmann’s Schumannliebe (5 March), before reuniting with pianist James Baillieu for a very special recital. Benjamin will be presenting his own homage to his former teacher Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, weaving personal memories and anecdotes of the iconic baritone into an evening of truly magical music (18 June).
