Liverpool Philharmonic provides a range of ways for children and young people to get involved in performing, enjoying and creating music.
For children aged 7 - 12 with a passion for singing, we offer choral training through our Children's Choir and Melody Makers.
For young people aged 11-23, Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company offers a range of opportunities through membership of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Academy Orchestra and Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir.
Youth Company provides chamber music experiences, master classes with international artists, supervised concert visits, conducting and composition workshops. Learn about different musical styles and genres including Musical Theatre, Brass Band, Folk and Big Band with industry professionals, and find out more about careers in music through work experience and our annual Music Industry Careers Day.

Working with national leader in choral singing, Dominic Ellis-Peckham, male singers (trebles, tenors and basses) will be trained in how to harness their individual sound, particularly during the natural transition of the male voice. They will participate in small group singing sessions in range groups with professional singing coaches and then come together to rehearse a selection of music, culminating in a sharing session with parents/carers at the end of the day.

Liverpool Philharmonic invites viola players of all ages and abilities to take part in our first Merseyside Viola Day on Saturday 11 January 2020. The day will consist of a range of activities to inspire, instruct and encourage existing violists and to welcome new players along their journey. Activities include a masterclass, group technique session, ensemble play-through, viola-for-violinists session and a performance by Liverpool Philharmonic musicians.

Brass Band returns, led by Simon Cowen from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra! You will spend a weekend preparing a mixture of traditional brass band music and symphonic repertoire and there will be opportunities to perform solo with the band. You will receive expert coaching from our course leader Simon Cowen (Principal Trombone RLPO) who was previously Principal Trombone for Black Dyke, Fairey and Yorkshire Building Society brass bands, all in preparation for a performance in the Music Room at Liverpool Philharmonic. Grades 6+.

It wouldn’t be December without our annual Spirit of Christmas concerts – they’re a Liverpool tradition. That means a glorious selection of Yuletide music, with classic carols and Christmas cheer from conductor Ian Tracey.
