Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company

Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company

Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company brings together young people who are passionate about music to develop their skills and talents through performance, live events, creative projects and training.

As part of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company, young people perform in of one of our amazing ensembles: Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir, Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Brass Band or Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Academy Orchestra. Through rehearsals and sectionals, young people learn and develop new skills, work with inspirational conductors and musicians, meet new friends and perform in prestigious venues, including Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

Young people can also join a range of other groups to explore and enjoy a range of musical genres and styles, including Youth Company Big Band, Youth Company Brass Band, Youth Company Folk Ensemble and Youth Company on Broadway led by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra musicians and other inspirational artists.

"I love singing with other people of my age. I really enjoy the different genres of music and the possibility to also interact with the Youth Orchestra in concerts."
Youth Company member, 2018

Youth Company offers regular training opportunities for young people to develop their skills, including introductory workshops in composition and conducting, advanced master classes with international soloists, and our Rushworths Young Composer programme for 14-18 year olds. Liverpool Philharmonic offers work experience exclusively to Youth Company members, and also offers advice on auditioning for University or Music College.

Liverpool Philharmonic promotes health and well-being for Youth Company members through all activity, including regular sessions for instrumentalists and vocalists in Alexander Technique, noise management and changing voices.

"Youth Company helps to develop you as a musician with all the extra opportunities available. You will learn so much and you will definitely make new friends and memories along the way!"
Youth Company member, 2017

Certain Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company events are also open to non-Youth Company members.

Our annual Music Industry Careers Day welcomes organisations and individuals from across the UK to talk about the range of careers open to people who are passionate about music.

Come & Play and Come & Sing give young people the chance to experience a rehearsal with members of Youth Company, and musicians from Liverpool Philharmonic.
