Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is for young people aged 13-21 from in and around Liverpool.

Founded in 1951 as Merseyside Youth Orchestra, Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra enjoys a reputation for high quality performances and excellent opportunities for its players.

Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra rehearses on a project basis in evenings and weekends working towards a concert, and not a weekly schedule, with Artistic Director for Youth Ensembles, Simon Emery. The Youth Orchestra perform regularly at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and have recently toured across North of England.

Rehearsing during evenings and weekends, the Youth Orchestra performs each term at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, led by Artistic Director, Simon Emery and guest conductors including Domingo Hindoyan, Jessica Cottis and Andrew Manze. Young musicians have the chance to work with international guest artists such as Sheku Kanneh-Mason, and regularly work with and play alongside musicians from Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra alumni have gone on to study at top universities and music colleges, and play in the finest professional orchestras across the world, including Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Some members of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra also play with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and attend leading music institutions, including Royal Northern College of Music and Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
