Liverpool Philharmonic is proud of its relationship with Investec Wealth & Investment (UK), a Principal Partner. We spoke with David Owen, Senior Investment Director at Investec Wealth and Investment, who shared his thoughts on the history of our relationship and the work Investec Wealth & Investment does in the City.
"Our involvement and support of Liverpool Philharmonic stretches back to the earliest days of the orchestra when the founder of our Liverpool-based business, Henry E Rensburg, was a patron of the orchestra and would entertain many famous composers of the late 19th century in his Liverpool home after concerts.
We have been a Principal Partner of Liverpool Philharmonic for over 10 years and are proud of our deep-rooted connections with the orchestra. We see this not only as a partnership, but as a friendship that reinforces the commitment that both of our organisations have to the city of Liverpool.
We are a major employer in Liverpool and our offices in Old Hall Street see over 300 colleagues come to work each day in the hub of Liverpool’s burgeoning professional district. We are proud of our Liverpool heritage and the fortunes of our business are intimately tied to the continued renaissance of the City, not only commercially but culturally.
The cultural offering of the City truly supports its European Capital of Culture title awarded in 2008. This recognition was an important catalyst in changing many wrongly-held perceptions of Liverpool with many seeing the City in a different light. With art galleries, such as Tate Liverpool and Walker Art Gallery, a thriving theatre community, vibrant popular music venues and not least Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, the City has much to offer both its citizens and visitors alike. Any city with the aspirations that Liverpool has to be a thriving, successful and business-friendly environment needs a world-class cultural offering – Liverpool Philharmonic is an integral part of these burgeoning aspirations.
We have watched with pride as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, under the leadership of maestro Petrenko, has built on its heritage and become a fine ambassador for all that is good about Liverpool. The Orchestra has garnered critical acclaim for its stunning performances both at the recently refurbished Hall, on recordings, or whilst representing the City on tour both nationally and internationally.
We are truly proud of our long standing association with Liverpool Philharmonic, as we are of our Liverpool roots."
