Scott Lumsdaine

Percussion
Adopted by John Britland Horne in loving memory of Patricia

Scott Lumsdaine has been a member of the percussion section of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra since 2017. He served as Chair of the Orchestra Players’ Commitee between 2019 and 2021.

Since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in 2008, Scott has been in demand as a percussionist and timpanist across a variety of fields. He has performed as a guest player with the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and as a guest principal with the Philharmonia, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra and Royal Northern Sinfonia, among others.

Scott's theatre work includes ballet and opera, as well as West End shows such as The Lion King and Les Misérables. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2022.

Highlights from Scott’s time at the Liverpool Philharmonic include leading the percussion section on tours to Japan and China, and in a performance of West Side Story at the BBC Proms. Aside from his playing commitments, he has represented the Orchestra in radio interviews and award ceremonies, and has hosted online post-concert talks with conductors, composers and fellow Orchestra musicians.

Fun Fact:
Outside of work, Scott enjoys spending time with his young family, as well as cooking, baking, eating out and drinking overpriced coffee.
