“O Mozart! Immortal Mozart! - what countless impressions of a brighter, better life hast thou stamped upon our souls!” wrote Franz Schubert, clearly in awe of the composer. Written when only a teenager, after a grand opening, the sprightly first movement of the composer’s Second Symphony reflects his youth and energy. Making his Liverpool debut, pianist Martin James Bartlett brings one of only two of Mozart’s piano concertos written in a minor key – a deeply serious opening full of drama. A perfect Viennese double bill!
The concert will be available to watch from 7pm on Tuesday 9 March, preceded by a live preconcert talk on Zoom at 7pm with BBC Radio 3 broadcaster and author Stephen Johnson, and a post-concert Zoom q and a session with soloist Martin James Bartlett and conductor Mihhail Gerts in a sort of ‘post match analysis’, where you can ask questions and participate. Further information on how to join the Zoom will be sent to you after you purchase a ticket.You can watch the video at any point without the Zoom element.
