Vasily Petrenko’s Final Concerts as Chief Conductor
We're delighted to announce we’ve added more concerts by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra over the June/July period this summer. Each concert will last approximately an hour with no interval.
Don’t miss the Icelandic pianist in the spotlight this year for his award-winning recordings, Víkingur Ólafsson performs Bach and Mozart concertos with conductor Andrew Manze and the Orchestra (24 June and in recital (22 June)).
Pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason, our Young Artist in Residence, performs Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No 1 (1 July), with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony on the programme. Red Priest returns to Liverpool with Baroque classics from Bach, Vivaldi and Albinoni (3 July). A Family Concert for the whole family to enjoy – Pirate Party – is not to be missed (27 June).
In 2006, Vasily Petrenko arrived in Liverpool for his first concert as Principal Conductor with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. 15 years later, Vasily Petrenko, one of the longest-servicing conductors in the history of Liverpool Philharmonic, will end his tenure as Chief Conductor with these two very special concerts at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
The programme will be announced 21 June (when government guidelines will be released allowing us potentially to increase the number of musicians on stage). The concert on 10 July will be available to watch on demand from our website from 20 July.
For your safety and comfort
If you have not been back to the Hall yet, please be aware that we’ve limited the number of seats for sale and seating will be socially distanced, as will the Orchestra on stage. You’ll be required to wear a face covering during the entirety of your visit (unless exempt). You can enjoy drinks at your seat in the auditorium by pre-ordering with your tickets. Or come to the Grand Foyer Bar from 30 minutes prior to the concert to enjoy drinks and snacks at your table!
Book with confidence
If you are unable to attend a concert due to illness or self-isolation, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance and we’ll exchange your tickets for another performance or credit. If a concert is cancelled, you will be eligible for a full refund or credit towards future ticket purchases.
