Everyone knows the first four notes of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, and that sensational opening is just the start of one of the most thrilling adventures in all of western music. Don’t miss Young Artist in Residence Isata Kanneh-Mason in her debut with the Orchestra in Mendelssohn’s lyrical Piano Concerto No. 1. Influenced by Beethoven and, as composer Jörg Widmann described it, an ‘exercise in fury’ Con Brio opens the concert.
