Liverpool-born Mark Simpson rose up through the ranks of the Merseyside (now Liverpool Philharmonic) Youth Orchestra and went on to become both a clarinettist and composer – and our Artist in Residence this season. Tonight, he tells his story through music that has shaped his life, performing works written by himself and composer friends, and the ever-popular Finzi pieces played by many young clarinettists.
