Equilibrium, composed of musicians from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, have a mission to introduce works by hitherto neglected female composers, alongside exciting new works from female artists creating music today. On International Women’s Day, Equilibrium brings you a programme of music by women past and present, historically neglected but currently celebrated. Amy Beach and Elizabeth Maconchy's music both draw on the folk music that speaks to them, whereas Imogen Holst's style lies firmly in the english pastoral camp of Ralph Vaughan Williams. Grace-Evangeline Mason and Carmel Smickersgill are both recipients of the Rushworth composition prize.
