Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Session Orchestra

The talented musicians of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company’s newest ensemble, the Youth Session Orchestra, and Tomorrow’s Warriors Junior Band join forces to explore the global jazz sounds of Jaco Pastorius, Fela Kuti, Thelonious Monk, Bheki Mseleku and more. Tonight is the culmination of a unique project where Liverpool’s rising jazz stars have worked alongside figures such as Sultan Stevenson, Ellie Smith, Ben Burrell, Ni Maxine and David Kayode.

The Youth Session Orchestra aims to empower young musicians to make their own musical decisions, be creative and explore as many avenues of music making as they can. Their February debut saw them perform alongside artists such as Michael Aldag and TEE from the LIMF Academy.

Tomorrow's Warriors is an innovative talent development agency, committed to increasing diversity across the arts through jazz. Their Junior Band is made up of musicians aged 13–17. Having already appeared at various festivals, the Junior Band took to the stage at the Southbank Centre as part of Tomorrow’s Warriors’ A Great Day In London, where they wowed audiences in a performance alongside members of Sons of Kemet.
