Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
Synth-pop icons, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, return to Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to bring you two nights of sensational music with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The concerts mark the start of the band’s 40th anniversary celebrations, and their first gig, which took place at legendary Liverpool club Eric’s in October 1978.
Founder members Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys join the Orchestra to perform an exciting programme including some of their big ambient tone poem pieces such as ‘Stanlow’, ‘Sealand’ and ‘Ghost Star’.
Exclusively, you will also enjoy songs that have never been performed live before, such as ‘The Avenue’, ‘The New Dark Age’ and a new instrumental piece ‘And Then She Saw The Minotaur’.
In the second half, the band will also showcase some of their biggest hits, including ‘Souvenir’,‘Maid of Orleans’, and ‘Electricity’ - all given powerful orchestral interpretation!
OMD and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra last performed together in June 2009, to a full house and outstanding reviews, so this is sure to be a very special event!
