Henry Normal & Nigel Planer

Join comedy legend Nigel Planer and Henry Normal, BBC Radio 4's 'poet in reticence', for a special evening of poetry, stories, jokes, fun, knitwear and maybe a few surprises.

Described by The Scotsman as "'the Alan Bennett of poetry", Henry Normal is the BAFTA award-winning writer, poet, TV and film producer, founder of the Manchester Poetry Festival (now the Literature festival) and co-founder of the Nottingham Poetry Festival. Normal became a pivotal force behind some of the most iconic British TV comedy shows, with production and script editing credits for Mrs Merton, The Royle Family, Gavin & Stacey, Red Dwarf, The Mighty Boosh, and Alan Partridge.

Nigel Planer was an original member of the comedy groups at the centre of the ‘Alternative Comedy’ movement in the 1980s and starred in the seminal TV series The Young Ones, and The Comic Strip Presents. As well as novels, plays and TV and radio scripts, he has been writing poetry for over fifty years.

Tickets for this event include a £1 venue restoration levy, included in the ticket price. This fee supports building investment at the Grade II-listed Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

9% administrative fee applies for online & telephone orders.
A £2.50 postage fee is applicable on all orders if opting for postal delivery.
