Iconic singer and songwriter Holly Johnson performs at Liverpool Philharmonic, celebrating 40 years since his band Frankie Goes to Hollywood ripped through the 80s music scene with the release of their 1983 debut single 'Relax'.
Hot on the heels of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s reunion to open this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Holly returns once again to his hometown of Liverpool for a special series of one-off shows.
'Relax', the group’s biggest hit, proved to be one of the decade’s most successful and controversial singles. It sold in excess of two million copies in the UK alone, ranking it among the ten biggest selling singles ever. It remained in the charts for a record 37 weeks.
'Relax' re-entered the charts following the release of the group’s second single ‘Two Tribes’. With two singles sitting at number 1 and 2 in the charts, Frankie Goes to Hollywood further cemented their place in music history.
Holly moved on to solo success with the release of Blast which also celebrates 35 years and produced hits such as 'Love Train', 'Americanos', 'Heavens Here' and 'Atomic City'. Blast will be released on a special coloured vinyl reissue this autumn.
This special performance will be packed with Frankie hits including 'Relax', 'Two Tribes', 'The Power of Love', 'Welcome to the Pleasuredome' and tracks from Holly’s smash hit solo career.
