The Mersey Rigger

Please note this show has been rescheduled to Sunday 2 May 2021 8pmThe event was originally advertised as taking place on Saturday 2 May 2020.The Mersey Rigger was formed in 2010, making their debut performance at the Albert Dock, as part of the annual Mersey River Festival.

With the centenary of the RMS Titanic disaster in 2012, founding members Dave and Nick Williams decided to mark the auspicious event with an original offering Titanic Queen of the Ocean, a folk musical.

The set of sixteen songs tells the story of the infamous vessel from its inception to the inquiries which followed its loss. Featuring lyrics which attempt to relay the story from the perspective of individuals rather than with a sense of cinematic hyperbole, the work has been well received.

Titanic Queen of the Ocean takes the audience on a carefully crafted and poignant journey from the elation and euphoria surrounding Titanic’s ambitious commencement, to the pity and sorrow following its disastrous end.
